Horizon has gone a perfect 6-0 against Arcadia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Horizon Huskies will take on the Arcadia Titans at 11:00 a.m. The last five games Horizon has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Horizon saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Canyon del Oro by a score of 7-6. The loss was the Huskies' first of the season.
Horizon got a good showing from Tre Puckett, who struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, Ethan Trahan was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Robbins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Arcadia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Flagstaff.
Grant Erickson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Levi Herndon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Even though they lost, Arcadia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .487. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Arcadia's record is now 0-3. As for Horizon, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Saturday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Horizon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Arcadia struggles in that department as they've averaged .414. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Horizon took their victory against Arcadia when the teams last played back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 13-6. Does Horizon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Arcadia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
