League recap: Buhach Colony extends winning streak with victory over Atwater

Buhach Colony extended the longest winning streak in Central California this week by beating Atwater, 49-27. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Thunder.

Buhach Colony's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joe Marquez threw for 113 yards and Johnathan Morrow had 47 yards receiving. On the ground Leon Miles chipped in 98 yards. Cody McWilliams helped Buhach Colony's passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.

Merced's Eli Gutierrez and Bradley Adamson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gutierrez has thrown for 1628 yards this season, while Adamson, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 33 catches for 649 yards. Kevin Swartwood's team's Stefon Gold leads the league in rushing yards with 821.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Pitman takes on second place Buhach Colony. Pitman beat Turlock last week, while the Thunder defeated the Falcons.

Buhach Colony made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 364 from 425. The advance stemmed from a 49-27 victory over Atwater last week.
