Basketball Recap: Deangelo Walker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Metrolina Christian Academy over Hickory Grove Christian

Metrolina Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hickory Grove Christian Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-31 on January 3rd.

Metrolina Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Deangelo Walker, who posted four points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Malachi Wilson, who scored seven points and three steals.

Hickory Grove Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kevin Powell out in front who put up 12 points and three blocks. Powell has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Miles Allen was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Metrolina Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Metrolina Christian Academy has already played their next match, a 69-37 defeat against Westminster Catawba Christian on the 28th. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-42 loss against Gaston Christian on the 28th.
