Basketball Recap: Legacy Longhorns vs. Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners

Make it 12 blowout wins for the Legacy Longhorns this season. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 58-23 victory over Southeast Career Tech. The victory was familiar territory for Legacy who now have eight in a row.

Legacy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alabama Nieves led the charge by scoring 20 points along with two steals. Nieves has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Jaleese Mckenzie was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Southeast Career Tech had strong showings from Trystan Bazile, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds, and Bianca Vazquez, who scored ten points.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Southeast Career Tech struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Legacy racked up 17 assists.

Legacy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Southeast Career Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-15.

Legacy will head out on the road to square off against the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Longhorns a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Southeast Career Tech will take on the Desert Shields at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Cheyenne is ranked 77th, while the Roadrunners are ranked 75th).
