Volleyball Game Preview: Shakamak Lakers vs. Bloomfield Cardinals

The Shakamak Lakers will venture away from home to square off against the Bloomfield Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bloomfield took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Shakamak, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Shakamak turned things around against White River Valley on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 3-0 victory.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-16, 25-11.

Shakamak can attribute much of their success to Chloe Holler, who had nine digs and one assist, and Peyton Gambill, who had 27 digs and one assist. Gambill is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 11 games she's played dating back to last season.

Shakamak was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They are a perfect 3-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, Bloomfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Mitchell.

The final score came out to 25-11, 25-19, 25-13.

Bloomfield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Shakamak, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Everything went Shakamak's way against Bloomfield in their previous meeting back in August of 2024, as Shakamak made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lakers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
