Softball Recap: Hillsdale Sets Scoring Season-High Against Monroeville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hillsdale). They put the hurt on the Monroeville Eagles with a sharp 20-1 victory on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their two-run performance the match before.

Jordyn Fickes was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three doubles. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Schmitz, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hillsdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are 13-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Hillsdale's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-6. As for Monroeville, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 19-3 record.

Coming up, Hillsdale will challenge Waynedale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.43 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Monroeville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New London at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
