Volleyball Recap: Juneau-Douglas Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Juneau-Douglas can now relate to. They came up short against the Dimond Lynx on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Crimson Bears have struggled against the Lynx recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Juneau-Douglas took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-21.

Gwen Nizich paced Juneau-Douglas' offense, picking up eight kills. Nizich got some help from Liliane Veikoso and her 12 assists. Braith Dihle controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Juneau-Douglas' defeat dropped their record down to 25-19-7. As for Dimond, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 34-13-1 record this season.

Juneau-Douglas will take on Lathrop at 11:45 a.m. on Friday. As for Dimond, they have already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Colony on the 13th.
