Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Zie'l Ratchford and Lauren Crosland Lead Spring Valley to Victory

Spring Valley hadn't done well against Westwood recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Spring Valley Vikings took down the Westwood Redhawks 57-40. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 63-62 victory the Redhawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Spring Valley was led to victory by Lauren Crosland and Zie'L Ratchford. Crosland went 7 for 12 on her way to 16 points, while Ratchford went 6 of 8 en route to 14 points. Ratchford has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

Aneya Britt and Destiny Omeire certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Britt dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Omeire went 5 for 10 en route to 10 points and six boards.

Spring Valley's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Westwood, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Lugoff-Elgin the next time they take the court. Westwood will head out to face Lugoff-Elgin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Spring Valley will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
