Football Recap: Downey Knights vs. Folsom Bulldogs
Downey and Folsom squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Downey had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 68-28 loss at the hands of the Folsom Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 16th).
Loss or not, Downey got some senior leadership from Carson Lamb and Joseph Ramirez. Lamb threw for 318 yards and four touchdowns, while Ramirez picked up 154 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Lamb's passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 302 passing yards.
Ryder Lyons was his usual excellent self, throwing for 513 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 74.4% of his passes for Folsom. Another player making a difference was Rob Larson, who picked up 196 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The defeat snapped Downey's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-2 record. As for Folsom, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Downey does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Folsom, they are on the road again on Friday to play Inderkum at 7:00 p.m. Both have allowed few points on average, (Inderkum: 13.4, Folsom: 12) so any points scored will be well earned.
