Baseball Recap: Menlo-Atherton Comes Up Short

Menlo-Atherton scored first but ultimately less than Archbishop Mitty in their game on Saturday. They fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 5-4. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Monarchs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Menlo-Atherton got a good showing from Anthony Kabrich, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kabrich has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ryder Kelly was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. JT Anderson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Menlo-Atherton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Archbishop Mitty, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Menlo-Atherton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-2 loss against St. Ignatius College Preparatory on the 19th. As for Archbishop Mitty, they have also already played their next game, a 9-6 win against Archbishop Riordan on the 18th.
