Preview: St. Pauls Bulldogs vs. Fairmont Golden Tornadoes
The St. Pauls Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Pauls is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
Last Wednesday, St. Pauls lost to Red Springs at home by a decisive 54-38 margin.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jamir Mcmillan, who scored six points along with two steals. Jamarcus Smith was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fairmont didn't have too much trouble with Midway on the road on Tuesday as they won 69-52. Given Fairmont's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Midway is ranked 386th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Pauls bumped their record down to 7-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Fairmont, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
St. Pauls didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Fairmont in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 50-44 victory. Does St. Pauls have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fairmont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
