Softball Recap: Reedy Comes Up Short

If Reedy was feeling good fresh off their 14-3 takedown of Rockwall-Heath on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Reedy Lions fell 14-10 to the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates on Thursday.

Sierra Petersdorf was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Katelyn Crosby was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Reedy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in seven consecutive matches.

Reedy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Lubbock-Cooper, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions duke it out with the Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Melissa will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Reedy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lubbock-Cooper, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-6 win against Wylie on the 27th.
