Softball Recap: Troy Trojans vs. Timberlake Tigers
Troy lost against Timberlake in Monday's first game, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result in Monday's second game. The Troy Trojans wound up on the wrong side of a tough 11-1 walloping at the hands of the Timberlake Tigers. Troy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For Timberlake's part, Casey Whaley was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Whaley has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Whaley was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Acacia Pecor, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Allilah Dykes was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Troy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Timberlake, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-6.
