1. Washington (Sioux Falls)
2012-13 Finish: 22-3, third place Class AA
Head coach: Nate Malchow

Although the Warriors finished third last season, falling to Mitchell in the Class AA semifinals before beating Aberdeen Central, they lost just two seniors from last year's roster that featured a balanced attack. Five returning players scored at least 100 points on the season with none scoring more than 177. Seniors Sydney Koel and Ellie Benson top the list, each averaging eight points per game last season. Benson earned second team all-state honors last year.

2. Mitchell
2012-13 Finish: 21-4, second place Class AA
Head Coach: Wes Morgan

The Kernels finished in second place in Class AA last year, falling to Lincoln in the championship game. Mitchell lost all-state forward Kerri Young to graduation but it returns Macy Miller, a 6-foot all-state guard who averaged 19 points and 5.8 rebounds per game and set the state single-season scoring record last year with 493 points.

3. Harrisburg
2012-13 Finish: 25-1, Class A state champions
Head coach: Marcus Leloux

Harrisburg captured the state Class A championship last season and returns all but two players from last year's team. Among the returning players are all-state second team selection Hailey Halling and third team all-state pick Morgan Beaner. Halling and Beaner, at 5-11 and 5-10 respectively, form to give Harrisburg one of the top frontlines in the state for 2014. Halling averaged 13.5 points per game and Beaner put up 12 an outing last season.

4. O'Gorman (Sioux Falls)
2012-13 Finish: 15-12
Head coach: Kent Kolsrud

O'Gorman went 1-2 at the Class AA state tournament last year, but that experience could pay dividends this year for a team that lost only one senior from last year's squad. The Knights also return one of the top post players in the state in 6-2 junior Jessica Mieras, who earned second team all-state honors as a sophomore last year. She has committed to play at South Dakota State.

5. More (Rapid City)
2012-13 Finish: 20-2
Head coach: Brandon Kandolin

The Cavaliers have 12 letterwinners and four starters back in 2013-14. Among the returning players is all-state honoree Alexys Swedlund, a 5-11 guard who made the second team as a sophomore last season after averaging 18.9 points and 2.5 steals per game.
