Basketball Recap: Plainfield Find Success

If Mooresville wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Plainfield, they should've done a better job of containing Noah Smith. The Plainfield Quakers blew past the Mooresville Pioneers 78-54 on Friday thanks in part to Smith, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Colton East, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Defeat or not, Mooresville got some senior leadership from Aj Defur and Brevon Burns. Defur went 8 of 16 on his way to 24 points, while Burns dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. That was a full 44.4% of Mooresville's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tyrone Elmore, who put up six points.

Plainfield's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Mooresville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Plainfield has already played their next contest (against Decatur Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mooresville will be playing in front of their home fans against Whiteland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mooresville is facing Whiteland at the right time seeing as Whiteland is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
