Volleyball Recap: Steele Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Steele kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Brunswick Blue Devils, falling 3-0. The Comets have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-21, 25-18.

Joe Penano and David Lewis certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Penano had 13 assists and seven digs, while Lewis had 11 assists and four digs. Those seven digs gave Penano a new career-high.

Brunswick can attribute much of their success to Darrin Delattre, who had eight digs and four assists.

Steele has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Anthony Wayne on the 15th. As for Brunswick, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Mentor on the 18th.
