Baseball Game Preview: Clearwater Tornadoes vs. Gibbs Gladiators

The Clearwater Tornadoes will square off against the Gibbs Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gibbs took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Clearwater, who comes in off a win.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Clearwater and Tarpon Springs meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Tornadoes put the hurt on the Spongers with a sharp 10-2 victory. The Tornadoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Gibbs scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Lakewood, falling 19-7. The Gladiators' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Clearwater pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Gibbs, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

Everything went Clearwater's way against Gibbs when the teams last played back in March of 2016, as Clearwater made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Tornadoes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gladiators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
