Basketball Recap: Aztec Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Aztec challenged Bloomfield on Tuesday. The Aztec Tigers took a 53-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bloomfield Bobcats. The Tigers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Bloomfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaydin Nelson, who went 8-for-14 en route to 16 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Nelson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Xavier Abernathy, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Aztec's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Bloomfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aztec will head out to take on Shiprock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bloomfield, they will venture away from home to challenge Gallup at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
