Basketball Game Preview: Empire Bulldogs vs. Wilson Eagles

The Empire Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Wilson Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Empire has six straight wins, Wilson has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Empire strolled past Elmore City-Pernell with points to spare, taking the game 65-50.

Meanwhile, Wilson came up short against Velma-Alma on Friday, falling 64-39. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Comets are ranked 112th).

Empire's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points over those games. As for Wilson, they now have a losing record at 11-12.

Empire didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Wilson when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 53-49 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Empire since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
