Basketball Preview: Boquet Valley Griffins vs. Keene Central Beavers

Boquet Valley is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while the Beavers are on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Boquet Valley Griffins will take on the Keene Central Beavers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Boquet Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Wednesday.

Boquet Valley pushed their score all the way to 58, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Schroon Lake.

Despite their defeat, Boquet Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jackson Hooper, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Carson Leibeck was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.

Meanwhile, Keene Central can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. They put the hurt on Lake Placid with a sharp 54-30 win. Keene Central pushed the score to 45-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bombers cut but never quite recovered from.

Vann Morrelli continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Asa Sprague, who scored ten points.

Boquet Valley's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2. As for Keene Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Boquet Valley hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.3 points per game. However, it's not like Keene Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.9 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Boquet Valley came up short against the Beavers in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 66-56. Will Boquet Valley have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
