Basketball Recap: Cumberland Dukes vs. Fuqua Falcons
The Cumberland Dukes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 79-25 victory over Fuqua. That 54 point margin sets a new team best for Cumberland this season.
Despite the loss, Fuqua still got an impressive performance from Sam Minix, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 64% of Fuqua's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Cumberland pushed their record up to 8-7 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.7 points. As for Fuqua, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Cumberland will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Buckingham knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully the Dukes like a good challenge. As for Fuqua, they will be playing at home against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
