Baseball Recap: Junipero Serra Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Valley Christian, Junipero Serra was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats by a score of 9-6. This was payback for the Padres, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Aiden Waters looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Harrison, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Aaron Maier also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Junipero Serra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Junipero Serra's record is now 13-2. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3-2.

Junipero Serra will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
