Basketball Recap: Independence Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Independence won the last time they faced Labette County and things went their way on Friday too. The Bulldogs enjoyed a cozy 39-22 victory over the Grizzlies. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Grizzlies are ranked 225th).

Loss or not, Labette County got some senior leadership from Amery Baker and Amelia Carnahan. Baker posted 12 points and seven boards, while Carnahan earned four points.

The win was the third in a row for Independence, bringing their record up to 13-1-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points over those games. As for Labette County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.

Independence wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 44-32 win against Pittsburg on the 10th. As for Labette County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-41 defeat against Parsons on the 10th.
