Basketball Recap: Verbena Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Verbena had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past the Isabella Mustangs with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 64-45. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 59-52 on December 3rd.

Verbena found their leader in sophomore Jaxson Kelley, who went 13 of 28 on his way to 27 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kelley has scored all season. Kamari Ceasar was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Verbena's victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Isabella, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Verbena won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Notasulga at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Notasulga's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. Isabella and Thorsby will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
