Volleyball Recap: Elmwood Takes a Loss

Elmwood and Cuba/Spoon River Valley squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Elmwood had to settle for second. They fell 2-0 to the Wildcats. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Elmwood's offense was headlined by Gianna Ramirex and Cheyenne Burge, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Payge Ryan and her 18 assists.

Elmwood's defeat dropped their record down to 23-12. As for Cuba/Spoon River Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season.

Elmwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cuba/Spoon River Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Brimfield on the 30th.
