Basketball Game Preview: Statesville Greyhounds vs. Salisbury Hornets + Official Tickets

The Statesville Greyhounds will venture away from home to take on the Salisbury Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Statesville has given up an average of 72.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Statesville was handed a 33-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 71-70 win over North Rowan.

It was another big night for Manuel (MJ) Gladden, who almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of La'Damien Parker, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards.

Statesville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Salisbury strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past A.L. Brown 74-40. With the Hornets ahead 35-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

The victory got Statesville back to even at 2-2. As for Salisbury, their record now sits at 3-0.

Statesville couldn't quite get it done against Salisbury when the teams last played back in December of 2015 as they fell 72-62. Can the Greyhounds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
