Softball Recap: Zion-Benton Zee-Bees vs. Stevenson Patriots
Zion-Benton extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 7-13-1 in the process. They lost 17-0 to the Stevenson Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-4 back in April.
As for Stevenson, they are on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 21 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season. Considering they have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Stevenson's part, Aubrey Jepson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one double. Alyssa Shimanski was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Zion-Benton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stevenson, they will square off against Lake Zurich at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Bears have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
