Ripon is a perfect 10-0 against Hughson since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Indians will head out to square off against the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Ripon is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
Ripon's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Gustine as they made off with a 16-0 victory. Considering the Indians have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mikayla Dietrich was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Chapman, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Ripon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Gregori typically has all the answers at home, but last Wednesday Hughson proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Jaguars 15-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Huskies considering their two-run performance the game before.
Summer Leshko was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one double. Grace Leedom was another key player, going 2-for-6 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Hughson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Ripon, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ripon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Hughson struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ripon skirted past Hughson 4-3 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
