Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln East Spartans vs. Omaha Westside Warriors

The Lincoln East Spartans will face off against the Omaha Westside Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lincoln East took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Columbus out 29-26. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted against the Discoverers since December 6, 2014.

Meanwhile, Omaha Westside waltzed into their match on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Storm 78-47. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 22 points or more this season.

Lincoln East better focus on containing Sanai Foster and Himayajo Metoyer as the pair were huge in Omaha Westside's win. Foster dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards, while Metoyer went 6-for-12 on her way to 13 points and five steals. That's the most points Foster has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Elise Pederson, who had eight points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.

Omaha Westside pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points over those games. As for Lincoln East, their victory bumped their record up to 7-15.

Lincoln East suffered a grim 58-33 defeat to Omaha Westside when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lincoln East was down 35-12.
