Baseball Preview: Lewisburg Patriots vs. Southaven Chargers        
        
		
            
 The Lewisburg Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Southaven Chargers at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
 Last Monday, Lewisburg faced Hernando in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lewisburg's  rough  16-5 loss to Hernando  might stick with them for a while.
 Lewisburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Cooper Bennett, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.  Samuel Richardson was another key contributor,  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances with two  RBI.
 Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought  game, but Southaven had to settle for  an  8-6 defeat against DeSoto Central on Saturday. Southaven has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Demetrius Smith was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 2-for-2 with three  RBI, a  triple,  and a  stolen base.
 Lewisburg's loss dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Southaven, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
 Everything went Lewisburg's way against Southaven in their previous meeting  back in March of 2023 as Lewisburg made off with  a  9-3 victory. Will Lewisburg repeat their success,  or does  Southaven have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
