            Basketball Recap: Shaw Raiders vs. Sumter County Panthers        
        
		
        
        
            After flying high against Columbus  last Saturday, Shaw came back down to earth. The Shaw Raiders took  a  63-44 bruising from the Sumter County Panthers on Monday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  56-53  back in December of 2024.
 Shaw's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Hunter Houseweart, who  posted seven points. Another player making a difference was  Jamon Smith, who  had ten  points and six  rebounds.

With the  defeat, Shaw broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-14. As for Sumter County, the  victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-9.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shaw won't have much time to rest: their next  match is against Kendrick  at 7:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Shaw is facing Kendrick at the right time seeing as Kendrick is stuck on  a  four-game losing streak. As for Sumter County, they will also get right back to it: they'll  face off against  Hardaway  at 7:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Sumter County knows how to get  points on the board -- the  team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Hardaway likes a good challenge.
