Baseball Recap: Lemoore Wins Going Away Against Foothill

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lemoore had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Foothill Trojans with a sharp 10-1 win. The Tigers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 17-1).

Ian Snell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Lemoore is 6-1 when Snell posts ten or more strikeouts, but 10-11 otherwise. Snell was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Tristan Puga and Drake Varela did most of the damage at the plate: Puga went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Varela went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was Varela's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chris Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lemoore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Lemoore is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-12 record this season. As for Foothill, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-7 record.

As of now, neither Lemoore nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
