Softball Recap: Auburn Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Auburn dropped their record down to 13-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers by a score of 6-5. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Skylar Meats was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they pushed their record up to 8-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

On Greenfield/Northwestern's side, their win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kalynn Weller, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Auburn will challenge Calhoun at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 1.8, the Warriors 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they will take on Brown County in a tournament on Monday.
