Football Game Recap: Des Moines East vs. Johnston

If Des Moines East were expecting to get some payback for the 35-49 loss against Johnston the last time they met, then they were left disappointed. Des Moines East lost to Johnston by a decisive 14-31 margin. Des Moines East were down by 7-31 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Senior Andrew Nord was the offensive standout of the match for Johnston, as he passed for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Johnston defense stepped up as well to lay out the quarterback 6 times.

The defeat dropped Des Moines East's record to 2-3. The win bumped Johnston's record up to 4-1.

Next week Des Moines East take on Waukee at 7:00 PM. Des Moines East have seen their point totals decreasing over the past three games, a vulnerability Waukee are surely hoping to exploit. Johnston will look to defend their home turf against Ottumwa at 7:00 PM. Ottumwa took a loss in their last matchup and are no doubt out to reverse Johnston's good fortune.
