Softball Recap: Mitchell's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Mitchell ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They blew past the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles 15-6. With that victory, the Kernels brought their scoring average up to 8.2 runs per game.

Rylee Jennings and Macey Linke made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Jennings pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Linke struck out 12 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. At bat, Jennings scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Linke scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Mallory Miedema and Delaney Linke did most of the damage at the plate: Miedema scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Delaney scored three runs while going 3-for-6. Another player making a difference was Kinsley Herges, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-6.

Mitchell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aberdeen Central only managed seven hits.

Mitchell's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. As for Aberdeen Central, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
