Softball Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mount Vernon Bulldogs. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 7-3 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Nikki Blodgett was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Avery Hite also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mount Vernon, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Lakewood has already played their next matchup, a 9-0 victory against Anacortes on the 17th. As for Mount Vernon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 26-3 win against Squalicum on the 17th.
