Baseball Recap: Colleton Prep Academy Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Colleton Prep Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the War Hawks in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now lost five in a row.

Greyson Martin and Bryce Kinard were huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, Martin pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kinard tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Martin scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Kinard scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Hartman Fisk was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win got Calhoun Academy back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colleton Prep Academy will welcome Orangeburg Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Calhoun Academy, they will challenge Jefferson Davis Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
