Preview: Needville Bluejays vs. Wharton Tigers

Needville and Wharton are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Needville Bluejays will head out on the road to square off against the Wharton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Needville is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wharton in Texas (Needville is ranked 355th, while Wharton is ranked 957th).

Even though Needville has not done well against Royal recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Needville came out on top against Royal by a score of 51-44.

Needville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bohdan Zeitz, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Zeitz hasn't dropped below 15points for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Caden Slater, who scored 11 points along with six assists and four steals.

Meanwhile, Wharton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 59-50 victory over Navasota.

Needville has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Wharton, their victory bumped their record up to 11-15.

Needville beat Wharton 58-50 when the teams last played on January 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Needville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
