Basketball Recap: Lewis County Piles Up the Points Against Battle Creek

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hickman County, Lewis County was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-19 win over the Battle Creek Grizzlies. That looming 56-19 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

Lewis County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Moore led the charge by putting up 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Those 13 points gave Moore a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Ortiz, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and five steals.

Lewis County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Lewis County's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Battle Creek, they dropped their record down to 2-23 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panthers take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewis County is facing Mt. Pleasant at the right time seeing as Mt. Pleasant is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Battle Creek, they are taking a road trip to face off against Montgomery Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
