Basketball Recap: Life Prep Comes Up Short

Life Prep saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broken Arrow Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Fire can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 51st in Kansas, while the Tigers are ranked sixth in Oklahoma).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Broken Arrow to victory, but perhaps none more so than Macy Marraccini, who posted 11 points and three steals. Marraccini is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenzie Mathurin, who earned 15 points.

Life Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Broken Arrow, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Life Prep won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tournament Team at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Broken Arrow, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Bartlesville at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bartlesville is on a five-game streak of home wins, Broken Arrow a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
