Basketball Recap: Whiteville Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Scotland, Whiteville was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Pender Patriots by a score of 43-31. For the Wolfpack, this counts as revenge for the 48-33 victory the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Pender saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maddison Francis dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 61.3% of Pender's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Whiteville's win bumped their record up to 2-10. As for Pender, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Whiteville has already played their next matchup, a 70-32 loss against East Bladen on the 17th. As for Pender, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-8 victory against West Columbus on the 17th.
