Baseball Game Preview: Robbinsville Black Knights vs. Hayesville Yellowjackets

Robbinsville is 1-9 against Hayesville since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Black Knights will host the Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. Robbinsville has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Robbinsville is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game two weeks ago. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-5 to Franklin, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Hayesville never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Cherokee. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Kyle Shaheen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Ben Bethel was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Hayesville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Hayesville's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Robbinsville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Robbinsville came up short against Hayesville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Black Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
