Baseball Recap: Reading Starts Season with Win on the Road

Reading had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Blanchester Wildcats by a score of 5-2. This was payback for the Blue Devils, who suffered a 5-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Connor Davis made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Davis was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jason Lunsford, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Jackson Thamann was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Looking ahead, Reading is taking a road trip to square off against Roger Bacon at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Blanchester, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Blanchester Wildcats duke it out with Bethel-Tate Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be their first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
