Recap: Burlington Cougars vs. McCook Bison
The Burlington Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 57-40 bruising from McCook. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Burlington has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Burlington still got an impressive performance from Keziah Williams, who scored 20 points along with three steals. The match was Williams' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Rowdy Humrich was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Burlington's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for McCook, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burlington will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Elbert at 1:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024. Elbert is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for McCook, they will head out on the road to face off against Kearney Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Kearney Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Tuesday.
