Basketball Game Preview: Brookfield Warriors vs. Champion Golden Flashes

The Brookfield Warriors will square off against the Champion Golden Flashes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Brookfield is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Brookfield is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Garfield on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Brookfield took a blow against Garfield, falling 65-28. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.

Champion fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 43-35 victory over Newton Falls on Tuesday.

Champion's win came from a few key players Brookfield will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kennedy Caldwell, who posted ten points and six steals. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Riley Doan, who put up 12 points.

Brookfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Champion, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9.

Brookfield was dealt a bruising 54-19 loss at the hands of Champion when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Brookfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
