Softball Recap: Egyptian Pharoahs vs. Meridian Bobcats

Egyptian extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 0-6. They lost 13-5 to the Meridian Bobcats. The Pharoahs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Egyptian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rayah Huffman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

As for Meridian, the win got them back to even at 4-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

On Meridian's side, Brynn Gibson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Gibson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Kiara Lane was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kamora Wiggins also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Egyptian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-2 loss against Century on the 14th. As for Meridian, they have also already played their next contest, a 16-1 defeat against Shawnee on the 14th.
