Recap: Modesto Panthers vs. Livingston Wolves
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Davis, the Modesto Panthers were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They came out on top against Livingston by a score of 65-53.
Modesto found their leader in underclassman Izzy Ceniceros, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Ceniceros grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Phillip Gonder, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Livingston's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayshaan Bains, who scored 17 points, and Adrian Aguirre who scored 13 points. That's the first time this season that Bains scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Imanol Gutierrez, who scored six points.
The victory got Modesto back to even at 3-3. As for Livingston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Modesto is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Escalon at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Escalon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Modesto in California (Escalon is ranked 184th, while Modesto is ranked 1176th). As for Livingston, they will head out on the road to face off against Turlock at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Turlock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
