Volleyball Recap: St. Mary's Comes Up Short

St. Mary and Case squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but St. Mary's had to settle for second. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Spartans have suffered since September 30th.

While St. Mary's was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Case's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-10, 25-22.

Case's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lily Rego, who had eight kills, seven digs, and three aces. What's more, Rego posted two assists, the most she's had over her last six matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Madyson Silva, who had 21 assists and three aces.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Case, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season.

St. Mary's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Case, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against East Longmeadow on the 5th.
