Softball Recap: Sparta Drops Season-High Score on Whitehall

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sparta). They blew past the Whitehall Vikings 19-0 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-5 on Friday.

Ali Crum was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Alaysia Hammock was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Sparta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Sparta is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Whitehall, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Sparta will venture away from home to face off against Greenville at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Whitehall, they will welcome Orchard View at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
