After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Quartz Hill, Eastside was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Palmdale Falcons as they made off with a 14-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won eight in a row.
Vibiana Schalow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gaselle Marquez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Luz Navarro, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Eastside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.
Eastside's victory bumped their record up to 11-9-1. As for Palmdale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.
Looking ahead, Eastside will venture away from home to take on Littlerock at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Lobos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.83 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Palmdale, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Lancaster at 3:15 p.m.
